Now that you explain it, it makes perfect sense. It was driving me crazy, as to why he was asking for his release with all that money on the table. - Doug England

Nice work bro.

I'd like to point out that prior to the 2007 season, the Miami Dolphins chose to tender the 1.8M and 2nd round pick to Wes Welker rather than the 2.6M and the 1st round pick.

Why? Nobody has been able to determine how an NFL office could manage something that stupid.

Is Welker not worth committing an extra 800K to and potentially receiving a 1st round pick for him?

Was that 800K THAT important to their cap situation at the time? I seriously doubt it.

But that's one example - and a damn good one - of a front office making a huge blunder during the tendering process to restricted free agents.

200+ catches and however many first downs later.....I'm sure they regret not slapping him with the 1st round tender.

My two cents. - J.C.

Saw that. It is a total and bizarre waste of money.

He isn't worth $4 million. - DZ

Brock's contract had another year left. He was slated to make 3.8 million, plus another 500 K for a roster bonus.

His release has not been confirmed.

I don't believe he would be eligible for the compensatory pick equation if he did leave, because he was released rather than free due to his contract expiring. - DZ

thanks for posting this tonight ... all the 'news' of late had me jonesing for the blanks to be filled in, so to speak.

I agree w/walt - I want to see Muir & Mookie stick around

So re: Brock ... if the Colts didn't release him, they would have received a compensatory pick, correct? just another example of class organizational move, or was his contract up? - m@chu

Of the guys remaining, I tend to hope we get deals done for Muir and AJ. That would be some major change at DT if not. Also, I kinda hope we retain Hagler.

Keiaho and Rushing, I'm not sure. - coltsfanawalt

I'd love to see him get that offer for the sake of the draft pick, but I'll be glad also to have him on the team for depth. Hopefully we can get a better LT and use Johnson anywhere else he's needed. - coltsfanawalt

That's a good level for him. If anyone wants him, they are welcome to him at that level. He's a useful guy, but a 2nd pick would be sweet. - DZ
