Giants maybe? lol.

I am sorry to say that I don't see Freeney picking up a sack in this game. I will be pulling for him, of course, but I don't know. The Pats will do everything they can to keep him away from Brady. A lot of stupid screens, inside draws, double teams, quick releases, etc. I think Mathis gets 1 or 2 though. The only scenario I can see him getting a sack is if we are up by 4+ points and they are in a 2 minute drill at the end of the game. He will have to look downfield and they will have to send out a lot of receivers. So, maybe then. Good luck, Dwight. It will be a shame if you don't get this record, because you deserve it. - Guy.

Crapshoot

Far as I can tell, it really is a crapshoot as to what will be the biggest factor. We both have a bunch of youngsters--will our rookies outplay theirs? We also have some sage vets--will it be them? Will it be the D or the O, 20-17 or 34-30? It really looks to me like it could go either way.

What I really want is for penalties--either called or not called--to decide things. That would just bite. I need my kids to view me as a sane individual and that kind of stuff just makes me go apesh!t. Actually, with others in the room, I am kind of forced to act like a grown-up. Blessing (or curse?) of no longer being a bachelor.

The media is just so full of crap it's not remotely funny--Bob sanders out! Major Blow to the Colts! (Hey ass clown, he's been out 7 games this year and they won them all. Would I prefer him in theere? Yeah. But calling it a blow is like calling me not winning the lottery a blow. It's status quo right now.) I am curious about Vollmer/Freeney. I suspect that on a "normal QB" with a rookie LT Freeney gets at least 1 sack and 4-5 pressures. Now Brady is pretty good about not getting sacked, but the Pats typically pass more than most teams. Two sacks are not out of the question, but I can't quite see him being shut out, even if he gets the full-time double team (not just RB chipping). Against SF his sack came on a play where he looped around to the middle of the line--QB was flushed into him. Usually his attacking from weird places does not result in sacks. Pressure, probably, which is good, but sacks are better. And strips, even better.

DZ, I'll email you a great sack photo to post if you care. It's one of those I have saved to ilustrate technique to my boys. Brady upright and barely touched, except for a DL's hand on his throwing forearm, and the ball tumbling free. A thing of beauty. Maybe from the 2008 SB--I forget who the opponent is. - Bob M

Oh, I guess I see now. We would have to lose 2 games to tie them, and then we'd have a worse conference record. Got it. I don't think we need to worry about that though. They have cincy, Baltimore twice, packers, dolphins... they will lose at least one of those. - Guy.

What is this about the Steelers winning a tie-break with us because they've lost a game to the NFC? I am not comprehending. If you're talking about conference record, they've lost to Cincy already, so we would both have 1 conference loss if Indy loses this week. - Guy.

Well good for them.

I think they should win every game they can while they're still an NBA franchise.

They've earned that right. - J.C.

Yeah JC, I was a bit iffy most of the week.

But with damn near every analyst I can find picking the Patriots, I'm now pretty sure the Colts will win.

The Pacers again fire the first shot, taking down the Celtics. - MR

This is never good - mostly everyone picks us.

I hate that.

But obviously, righteous black man (and owner of chronic yellow teeth) Tom Jackson picked the Colts.

For the record, Belichick DEFINITELY told TJ to 'go fuck [himself]' after the Carolina Superbowl following Tom Jackson's earlier-that-season proclamation that 'this team hates their coach' following the Lawyer Milloy thing.

I didn't know he told Saint Tony to fuck off too but I'm glad he did if it happened. - J.C.

QBs the Patriots secondary has played:

Edwards, the Sanchize, Ryan (awful on the road), Flacco, Orton, Collins, Josh Johnson, Chad Henne are not a good enough sample size for me.

Who is the best of that group? Orton? He doesn't throw the ball more than 5 yards in the air. Flacco? Dont' really buy him and he doesn't have a good receiver.

Wierdest thing to me is the Colts beat St Louis, San Fran, and the Texans and are struggling while the Patriots were struggling but beat Tennessee, Tampa, and the Dolphins and are now back to 2007 form.

It's funny how analysts use facts & stats that make no sense to fit their storyline. I have hear the Colts perceived weaknesses all week (can't run, hurt secondary, never mind none of those secondary members has played much of a role all season). I have hear no one point out any Patriots weaknesses, they supposedly have a better defense, offense, and special teams. - MR

Slight Blow Out

I'm not a big believer in the Patriots pass defense and they've had to manufacture a pass rush to a certain extent by blitzing. I think Peyton will dice them up. Big game for Collie and perhaps Garcon. Watch for Donald Brown and Addai coming up big with the screens and dump-downs after the Patriots are unable to pressure Manning with their front four.
