Sorgi did play, but here's what happened:

Indy got the ball with 10 minutes to play up 28-3. Manning lead a 6:47 TD drive that took the clock under four minutes.

The Rams went four and out, and gave the Colts the ball at the 30.

Sorgi entered, handed off once to Simpson. Simpson busted the run 30 yards for a score. Indy never got the ball back. - DZ

Couldn`t watch the game (river-boca were playing!)

But again, when i go to the stats box i see Colts winning 42-6 and Jim Sorgi has zero pass attempts...
I was explained colts can´t run the ball well enough (not reading that after the game, however i understand it`s still a weakness) so they need to keep Manning on the field to keep getting 1 and 10s. I can also see Manning is getting great pass protecion.

But was it really necessary?
Did Sorgi entered the game a went out with no statistics?
wasn´t this a good chance for Sorgi to play for some minutes?

Thanks for replying!

I was confused as to why they "called a timeout" then challenged. As it turns out, they didn't actually call a timeout, they just challenged.

The announcers botched the call, and that's why I was confused. - DZ

Not sure why you are confused as to why they ran the clock down on the challenge call. It was basically a free 30 second runoff, since they were planning to challenge anyway. When you're ahead by a ton late in the game, you might as well bleed the clock whenever you get the chance. - Brad R.

F = dp / dt, also = MA, as you know MA is just the change in momentum over the change in time.

F=MA
A=dV/dT
dP=MdV
F= MdV/dT
F=dP/dT - furrycolt

Ok, I'm sorry for being super nerdy here, but since we are correcting each other physics here, I must also add that the only Newton equation which is considered correct is that F = dp / dt, that is, force is the derivative of momentum. This equation is valid both in everyday mechanics and also in near lightspeed mechanics.

Sorry to be super nerdy. - jpjandrade

I made a deal for him and one of my division rivals has Donald Brown so I need him to succeed.

If he loses his carries I'm screwed. - J.C.

"but they had a three year period where their offense put up numbers that looked made up. They had their run."

Keep in mind that the Rams have had only one winning season in the last 8 campaigns (in 2003). Not surprisingly this corresponds exactly to the Bulger era.

But, yeah, still not comparable to the Browns/Lions. - DemondSanders

but they had a three year period where their offense put up numbers that looked made up. They had their run. I feel alot worse for the Browns and Lions fans. I'm glad we made that dome feel like a homegame. Hard to take anything away from that game. We played well, no one got seriously hurt, the defense looked good. All is well in Indy. - dmstorm22

A.J.

I was thinking of Garcon's "bubble screen" drop that was an easy catch, that he just dropped probably because he was thinking about running with it too soon. Other teams fans have to suffer with drops like that, us Colts fans are spoiled.

(And it also killed me Gonzo's rookie year, when he seemed to have a terrible habit of catching passes one yard short of the first down.) I mean come on, I only want perfection. - Doug England

@DZ:
Actually, I was partially answering Doug England more than you (although I realize that neither of you were actually "killing" Garçon either), as well as getting it off my chest in general, as I've seen criticisms coming in different forums. I very much agree that he's doing great, and I was just expounding on why I thought this last game shouldn't be viewed as a real setback or anything. Heck, given the fact that he kept on seeing two defenders converge on him (man, their DBs were quick!), I'd say he had quite a bit of respect from St. Louis that game.

Then again, it seemed like the Rams were defending in the same "swarm to it" manner that the Colts do, and with personnel every bit as speedy, if not as talented. So maybe their multi-teaming of receivers was nothing more than their defense's normal convergence on the ball. I don't know. I only thought of that possibility right this moment. Anyway, like I said, I do think that Garçon is nothing less than a positive addition to the receiving corp. He carries his weight and then some. And even though he dropped quite a few passes, Manning kept on throwing to him. What does that tell everyone? It says something very positive to me.

@Cass:
Dang, man, that was an excellent rehash. I barely caught any of that. You're righ, that is damn smart coaching. - A.J.

8. Caldwell wins the challenge, gets the 1st down, and kills an extra 30 seconds.

It was very smart coaching, and not something you see often. - Cass

I was watching that challenge-TO play very closely, and here's what happened during it:

1. Caldwell first recognized immediately that it was a bogus spot and decided that he was going to challenge it.

2. Peyton either realized the spot was bogus and went to the sideline to tell Caldwell to throw the flag or went to the sideling to ask Caldwell to go for it on 4th down.

3. Caldwell was in clock-killing mode and realized that he could kill a free 30 seconds off the clock if he waited until the last second to throw the challenge flag.

4. He told Peyton this, and Peyton lined up with no intention to run a play.

5. Caldwell pulled a referee next to him (like the coaches do when they are calling a last-millisecond TO on a FG), and threw the red flag when the play clock hit 1.

6. Ref blows it dead immediately and no delay of game is called.

7. The announcers weren't even looking at Caldwell as they were anticipating Manning calling a 4th down play, saw that the clock was at 1, and said that Peyton called a TO, which Peyton never signaled. - Cass
