Tony Ugoh looked good at first; but seems like a bust right now. He seems like he has both slow feet and slow reactions. Not time to run him out of town; but it is time for him to show how bad he wants to play here. Colts have been good at finding those nobodies that can play Offensive line .. time to beat the bushes a bit.
The run blocking has not been good the last few years, but the bigger concern is that the pass blocking seems to be breaking down a bit too.

While the run is a valuable tool; this is a passing team and Manning is the franchise. He gets hurt .. . and its "wait til next year." Can you imagine how empty that new stadium would be if Manning got hurt? - tjbindy

There are two problems there:

1. The last first round quality OT was taken at pick 23 by Baltimore(Michael Oeher). There were no other OTs picked until pick 39 by the Jags. If the best player had been a tackle, I think they would have considered it.

2. They just drafted Ugoh to play LT two years ago. He is looking like a bust at this moment, but in the previous two drafts the Colts had taken 6 or 7 linemen. You can't fault them for not drafting linemen. - DZ

i'm starting to wonder if there were any LT's available worth taking in the first round, instead of a running back. From the looks of it, LT seems to be more of a pressing concern, whereas a second back is more readily available through free agency. Don't get me wrong, I love Donald Brown but if we can't keep Manning upright or taking unnecessary blind shots we are in serious trouble - anjoe

Preseason is not kind to Pats QBs, past and present.

Fat Albert did a cannonball on Tommykins, which is then followed by Cassel getting his leg busted.

Peyton's still alive even with the yawning void of insufficient pass protection out there in Chucky Johnson. - Anonguy

I originally wrote this with bullet points, so hopefully the cruder reformatting still works.

Yeah, I don't know what to think about this game.

First: I hope Ron Winters gets hit by a car and never officiates another NFL game again. That's how much I hate him, please let this be the last Colts game he's ever involved in. The POS.

Offense: The offense looks good and ready, let's just hope the offensive tackles Charlie Johnson and Ryan Diem don't blow it

- The passing game looked very good, except for the pass protection of the two tackles. This is not good, but the Colts can still be good thanks to Peyton.

- The running game didn't look good until the 1st drive of the 3rd quarter. Which makes me hope that it was just the Colts' OL sucking at running the ball in preseason as usual (for the last number of years) and then Caldwell made it the point of emphasis during halftime.

- Not really anything, but the Colts actually executed a screen pass very well - I think that's the first time in 3 years. Wow!

- If only Peyton could actually pass the ball to Addai and Brown more, but I've been hoping for this for over a year. And I expect to continue to be disappointed.

- Tony Ugoh is not the future of the Colts. I was a believer since day one, and now that's me saying this. It's over.

- For anyone wondering, Federkeil was the 2nd string LT today, Ugoh the 2nd string RT.

- The offense had two good drives, but should have looked better against the Lions.

Defense: We've yet to see the final product. And it might not come Week 1 either.

- Marlin Jackson and Antoine Bethea hardly played. Freeney and Mookie hardly played. Basically the only starters who actually played were Bullitt, Session, and Wheeler. So I can't take much of anything from today.

- The DEs who played the most were Keyunta Dawson and Josh Thomas. Neither should make the Colts roster imo. Dawson isn't good at all and Thomas is horrible.

- The linebackers need to tackle better, just like last year. I thought the LBs last year were the most disappointing unit on defense, at least they had talent the DL didn't have.

- I thought maybe Fili Moala looked his best yet in the PS but still has ways to go. He's so raw, but if he can develop, he'll be the DT the Colts need.

- Daniel Muir, I don't think he's secured a roster spot. Whoever gets roster spots, Mookie, Muir, or Adrian Grady. Not a major surprise either way, I don't think.

- Jamie Silva will probably make the team, but he needs to tackle better.

Special teams: Pretty much the same story - Pat McAfee looks very good and TJ Rushing won the return man job back. Coverage is a little improved.

Roster bubble?

- TE Tom Santi. His ability to play football means nothing if he can't stay healthy to play. He cannot stay healthy whatsoever. If he's lucky the Colts give him one more chance because this is only his 2nd year.

- CB Dante Hughes. One of my favorite Colts draft picks ever but comes a time to face the truth, I guess. And I thought he would be a great player, which hasn't happened and doesn't look to happen soon. Well Michael Coe isn't making the roster for sure, but the question might be if the Colts want to risk waiving Jacob Lacey to put him on the practice squad or go ahead and cut Hughes.

- Keyunta Dawson, Freddy Keiaho. Said this last week, I would not keep either. They aren't good. - project GEO

You don't usually see that in the first year, much less the first preseason. The only players yet to show up so far are Terrance Taylor and Jaimie Thomas. Hmmmmm.....those are the 2 biggest guys we drafted. Coincidence? - Cass
