Ray Donaldson: CLASSIC COLT (1980 - 1992)

04-11-2007

Ray Donaldson played 13 seasons with the Colts (9 in Indy).  During his tenure as center, Donaldson, along with Ring of Honor inductee Chris Hinton, anchored an offensive line that blocked for Hall of Famer Eric Dickerson.  He played in 4 of his 6 Pro Bowls as a Colt, and would later win a Super Bowl ring with the Dallas Cowboys.  Donaldson was durable and ranks high on the list of games played by a Colt.

For many years, the O-line was one of the strongest aspects of the Colts, and Donaldson was one of the men that kept the team competitive in the late 80s despite an unstable quarterback position.  Donaldson, a Georgia native, was elected to the Georgia Sports Hall of Fame.  Offensive linemen almost never get their due, but Donaldson was a fine player for many years, and definitely a Classic Colt.
