Jason Belser: CLASSIC COLT (1992 - 2000)
04-07-2007 For nine seasons, Jason Belser anchored the Colts secondary. He was a hard hitting, run stuffing safety. He was Bob Sanders before there was a Bob Sanders. Belser was part of the first renaissance of the Colts D that went to the AFC title game after the 1995 season. Belser suffered the lean pre-Manning years, but always played hard and kept things exciting with huge hits. Finally, Belser was present for the lightning fast turn-around in 1999, when the Colts rose to national prominence. Belser was an excellent open field tackler, and would punish running backs out in the flat. Upon his departure for Kansas City after the 2000 season, Belser garnered a “Thanks for the Memories!” band on his giant photo that greeted visitors to the RCA Dome. Until Bob Sanders came along, the Colts missed his physical presence. Have a favorite Belser memory? Let us hear it and we'll print it: 18to88@gmail.com |
